How We Pave in South Georgia
Wiregrass Asphalt Paving Valdosta paves and maintains driveways, parking lots and private roads in Valdosta and across Lowndes, Brooks, Cook, Berrien, Lanier, Echols and Clinch counties. Our work includes new driveways, gravel-to-asphalt conversions, overlays, pothole and patch repair, sealcoating, crack sealing and parking lot striping.
South Georgia ground is different from the red clay farther north. Around Valdosta, the surface is often sandy, the land is flat, and summer storms drop a lot of water in a short time. Sand drains fast but shifts when it is loose, and flat lots leave rain with nowhere obvious to go. Asphalt that lasts here sits on a well-compacted base with enough slope to move water off, even on ground that looks level.
Every quote starts with a visit. We measure, look at how water moves across the property, check the existing base or soil, and note which road the driveway connects to. Inside Valdosta, driveway work in the public right-of-way needs an Engineering Department permit; on US 84, US 41, US 221 and other state routes, GDOT handles it. We explain which applies before anything is scheduled.
Our working rules
- Written, itemized quotes with the base depth and compacted asphalt thickness for each area.
- A straight answer on repair versus replacement.
- Georgia 811 locates requested before any mechanized digging or grading.
- Paving planned around summer storms and the rare cold snap.
- Nothing added to the job without your written approval.
